PATH - Providing Access to HealingPATH is a school-based mental health program that helps create increased access to counseling services for youth by removing financial and geographical barriers. Students experience:
WEB - Where Everybody BelongsWEB is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 5th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout their first year at Riverview Middle School. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains 8th grade mentors to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 5th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th, 7th and 8th grade success. Second StepSecond Step Middle School is a first-of-its-kind social-emotional learning curriculum that's modern, web-based, and responsive to the needs of today's students and educators. It's underpinned by the latest research in adolescent brain development and social psychology. The result is a program that doesn't just help kids do better in school - it helps them do better in life.
Second Step will be taught in all four grades (5th-8th) at Riverview Middle School, and includes individual teaching units in the four content areas listed below:
XelloXello is an engaging, online program that helps K-12 students define their future goals and transform their aspirations into actionable plans for success. The program puts students at the center of their college and career planning experience. It helps them build self-knowledge, explore their options, create a plan, and develop the 21st-century skills needed to thrive in the world of work. Please click here to access the Xello website.
PEP TalksPEP Talks are specially designed student conferences focused on student strengths and interests, educational and career development plans, and high school preparation. Parent involvement in the educational and career planning process is a key factor in successful preparation for the future. The goal of PEP Talks is for each student to take ownership of his/her educational and career planning, as well as to see a clear purpose for what he/she is learning.
Nourishing GreatnessNourishing Greatness is a district-wide program that allows students to take a backpack filled with food and snacks to help cover meals for the weekend. Students enrolled in the program pick up their backpacks on Fridays (or the last day of classes prior to vacation), and return them the following week to be refilled. The program is confidential and students will not be publicly identified as participating.
